TIM's BARBER SHOP

Tim Fahey - Owner

I grew up with both parents in the hair business. Back in the day my mother had a booming hair salon, and my father owns a barber shop. I was setting up to go to barber College in the early 90's when I found out they were closing the doors.

So for many years I did various retail , food establishment jobs. You would have seen me at McDonald's, Sobeys, Zellers, Blockbuster Video, Wendy's, Walmart, Empire/Cineplex. I was full time at one of these places, but 28 hours a week was not enough to pay the bills. So I did 3 of the above jobs at the same time frame. It got old really fast.

Found out the Barber College reopened, and had a game play in place! When I was midway through Eastern College in Saint John Nb, my game took a shift . But it turned out to be such a great shift. I opened my own business only 1 month after graduating with honors! I set my sites on establishing my business in the town I absolutely love... Amherst. At the beginning, Tim's Barber Shop was just going to be me with no other barbers in shop. I did not plan on selling products. I noticed my clients really liked the products I was using in the hair. They started asking if I would bring some in. It took off!

Then 3 years in, my middle son (Zach) showed interest in the barbering field. Since moving from our basement location beside McDonald's to the new location 13 West Pleasant, we have see the business grow drastically ! I am very proud of the accomplishments Zach and I have achieved over these past few years. We are so very humbled to have such an amazing group of clients new and older. Thank you to our folks of Cumberland and surrounding areas! We appreciate you!

First and foremost, I love what I do. I’m thankful for who I get to work alongside each day (My father) and I am thankful to share my day with amazing clients like you who walk in. This profession is deeply rooted into my blood as i am the third generation to get involved. The best part about that? It was something that just ended up coming to me. To summarize briefly growing up I didn’t give it much thought, but as I had gotten older I wasn’t clear on what it was I had wanted to do. That’s when my father (Tim) had approached me and asked if I’d like to join him in his work day just sweeping hair. Which then led me to where I am at now as a fully licensed barber. Now everyday I head in I want to learn more than the previous. I strive to learn endlessly about what it means to be a good barber as well as I strive to perfect my craft and achieve the best service I can offer all of you alongside my father.

We couldn’t be in any better spot or community so thank you Cumberland county and Amherst for supporting our local barbershop!
